The Girlfriend vs. The Wife

How A Girl Changes When Becoming a Wife From a Girlfriend

Some people think when they get married their relationship won’t change. I thought the same thing. Trust me, it does. These scenarios are based on how my relationship has changed since we’ve been married:

Your ideal Saturday night:

Girlfriend: Gets ready for an hour and a half, goes to dinner, has a few drinks, wears nice underwear and sleeps with their make-up on.

Wife: Sits on couch half paying attention to the TV while her husband is on the computer in his boxers.

Making dinner:

Girlfriend: Cooks chicken piccata with whole wheat penne pasta and a semi-expensive glass of wine.

Wife: Decides her husband can make himself a frozen pizza. American Horror Story is waaaaaayyy more important anyway.

Spending a Night in:

Girlfriend: Makes popcorn, stocks up on Dr. Pepper, buys m&m’s, and sets up pillows and candles with a movie marathon.

Wife: Falls asleep during the fifteenth action movie her husband has picked out this week.

Saying I love you:

Girlfriend: “I love you so much, babe”

“I love you too, beautiful”

Wife: “Awe, you put the toilet seat down.”

“It’s because I love you, woman”

Talking about your feelings:

Girlfriend: “I just feel… that sometimes… you don’t understand that when you (insert annoying trait here)…. it hurts my feelings….”

Wife: “You piss me off. And here’s why..”

Arguments:

Girlfriend: “You looked at her?! What, am I not good enough for you anymore?!”

Wife: “When dishes are dirty, they go in the dishwasher. Stop being a caveman.”

Sharing:

Girlfriend: “It’s okay, babe. You can have the last of the peanut butter. I’ll make something else for a snack.”

Wife: “Touch it. I dare you. See how long you live. Go ahead, eat the peanut butter.”

But one thing never changes:

Girlfriend: “I’m the luckiest girl in the world”

Wife: “I’m the luckiest girl in the world”
